Week 10 Day 7 - Thursday, July 23rd - Passing of the Keys

Lets see, today it was gross! It was raining pretty bad when we got up in the morning but hey, sometimes it will stop or go away! But not this time. Lori called me around 8am, since we had Zoo plans, and we talked about it and cancelled them. I was going to try and still go (since I needed to get out of the trailer) but not working right now. The boys and I played around until about 10am. I facebook’ed Lori and suggested we go to Scarborough Town Centre, or even IKEA to get out. We both figured IKEA was better option, and cheaper lunch! So off we went. We figured around 11am would be a good time to meet.

The boys and I got dressed quickly and headed off to the post office. We had to cancel our mail forwarding and move our mail forwarding to our new address and it took a while to figure that one out. Then we headed out and started our way to IKEA. By then the rain was getting worse so I figured it might be safer to stay off the highway. We took Sheppard all the way to the store and I guess other people had the same idea. We were really late by then, but it was ok since Lori and the boys were as well.

We headed up to the main show floor if IKEA and wondered and dreamed. Isn’t that always how it is at IKEA? I took a photo of a bed I think I want and that was useful. Costly bed, but it would be useful in the new house. I guess it will have to way for a few pays. We also checked out a new desk, no photos of that one, since I’m going to need a new one in the basement in the scrapbooking room!

When we finished the main floor we headed over for some lunch and then back down to finish the store. All in all it was about 2 hours but well worth it. We headed home and Q fell asleep in the car and I managed to convince K he needed to sleep as well. So once we got them both into their beds, and had their vitimans they were out. I did some more organizing and packing up the van to go to my parents house. It worked out rather well, or at least I think so.

I went to check on supper (roast) and it was falling apart (all the better). I got everything ready to set the table and slowly did some things. Auntie Kristina, Uncle Tim and E were coming over. They are so sweet to be watching our trailer for the weekend (even if it’s raining). We went through all the things they need to know about the trailer and what kinds of things they should be aware of. We gave them our car pass (since the people at the gate know us) and the keys and they left around 8:30 or so. Arnold and the boys and I cleaned up a bit and watched a veggie movie. We had fun. Then off to bed they went. It’s hard to believe that this is Kylers last night at the trailer! Oh well, he won’t know the difference. When he gets home I plan on having his room done, the house generally ready and it will be more exciting for him, I hope!

Off to bed!

Week 10 Day 6 - Wednesday, July 22nd - Cleaning Day

Today was a “clean up” day. It was sunny out so we enjoyed the nice weather and I kicked the boys out of the trailer. We had to put it “back together” as Kyler calls it. The boys played outside while I moved the beds around and made things a bit more livable for someone else, and packed the van up.
I caught these photos of the boys before I started working:

I moved Arnold and my bed from the table area back to where it belongs (along with getting some new sheets on there) and got it all set up. Then I moved all the things that were on there outside to the car (for storage in the garage) or back in other containers (for things we might need during our family reunion) or threw away. That part was nice. Some of the things I had I knew we wouldn’t use again!

Work in progress:

I managed to clean out all the bench seats and have some serious fun with that. It’s all clean (and a bit lighter) and then I started to repack it. Not that I wanted to but some of the things we need for the family reunion so I figured I might as well repack it while I can.

I cleaned off the boys bed and got it set up again for them. I did need to get a few things clean out from there (ie cereal they didn’t eat and left) but aside from that it was pretty good. Arnold and I were both shocked with how little ants there were. I honestly expected a lot more since you see them crawling on everything but nope! Not here.

I put the boys down for an early nap, since Monday’s soccer practice had gone so bad, and made them sleep. Arnold did call once and I told him how upset I was about the boys not napping and that there would be NO soccer at all and by the time I got off the phone with him they were out like a light!

While they napped I did some more ‘house stuff’ by calling all the numbers and getting bills set up for the house. It’s exciting but scary at the same time.

Once the boys got up we headed out early to do some fun things. We did get stopped at the front driveway, again, but this time the guy was nice. He explained who they were and about their reasons for going on strike and gave an example. I must say that is easier to understand/take then just being told to wait 5 to 10 minutes.
We headed off to Wal-Mart and looked for something for the boys room. I was excited to check it out but when I got there… there was NOTHING! It sucked. We are going to check out home depot and Rona later and see if they have anything (for those of you in TO or in Canada for that matter, we are looking for animal stuff for their room (Land animals and water ones, not like what they actually look like but ones that are a bit kiddish, if that makes sense).
We picked up our groceries there and headed out to the car. The boys did great. We then went to the Library and brought back our old books and checked out some new ones. Kyler picked a lot of books and I told him we would have to do a lot of reading since he was leaving soon for Nana and Papa’s house. We had to go over our countdown to their house again… it’s getting old.
After the Library we went to Price Choppers since we realized we forgot the powder doughnuts to get the kids to play soccer. We quickly went in and paid for them and back in the car. We went to a ‘new park’ with the kids today. This strike is getting old! I mean it doesn’t do much for us here (aside from being stopped sometimes) but the parks are GROSS. We ended up going to the slide and swings on the other side of the field from where we play soccer. We got there around 5pm and brought everything over there (the grass is bad, I can’t stand walking through the jungle but hey there isn’t any garbage there). We had our sub supper and then went to soccer.
Quinton and Arnold took the van and went to the garage and dropped off a load of things then back to the storage unit and packed up again. Kyler and I went to the soccer game! We tied, 3-3. K played in net and did a great job with kicking and such. I have some great photos I’ll post up here, sorry for the large amount.

When the game was over I called Arnold to see where he was and he said he was at the storage unit so we waited in the parking lot. Auntie Kristina and Uncle Tim waited with us (they used the time to clean their car) and we hung out beside them. It was nice to not wait by ourselves. That parking lot clears out as fast as possible. By the time 8:15 rolled around there was NO ONE there but us.

Kyler and I got in the van and headed out to the new house and unloaded everything into the garage and off we went home. We did stop at Dairy Queen to get some milkshakes (as we were too late for Reid’s and K played SO well). We got what we wanted and headed back to camp. No getting stopped. In fact no one was there but the security guards. It was kind of funny.

We put the boys to bed and went to bed ourselves shortly after. Soccer days are hard on everyone!

Week 10 Day 4 and 5 - Monday, July 20th and Tuesday, July 21st - Fighting and Forgiving

I don’t remember much about these 2 days aside from a lot of packing up the trailer and bringing things over to the new house. That and I think there was soccer on the Monday and then that night we had a fight. Arnold and I seem to fight more when things are stressful with us and moving is something stressful. I was so upset with him and I went to bed without talking to him. I know it’s a big no-no to go to bed angry at your spouse but I had had my fill of him.

I woke up the next morning to this:

And all was forgiven.

Week 10 Day 3 - Sunday, July 19th - Fun Rides

Nana and Papa left today. I think just after lunch. We just had a lazy day. It was so nice to hang out and Kyler was super excited for his bacon breakfast! We had lunch at the campsite and headed over to the new house. The Landlord’s parents let us in and we got to show my parents the new house! They really liked it. Mom seriously doesn’t think the bus will fit to the backyard but we will see.

Once Nana and Papa headed out Arnold and I continued to do some more packing/cleaning to get things moved over to the new house’s garage. While we were working one of the ‘nice people’ who are working came and took the boys for a ride in the Kubota. The kids were SO excited. I made Arnold snap a few photos:

Week 10 Day 2 - Saturday, July 18th - Heslop Family Zoo Day

Today was our Annual Heslop Family Zoo Day! We have been doing this every year since K was born. In fact somewhere I have photos of Becca and I standing by the sign with Amber and Kyler in our slings.

Anyway today was ours for 2009. Jack was working so he didn’t get to come but we didn’t change the ‘boy ratio’ since this year Uncle James came.

We all met there around 9 am or so and started our day at the zoo. We had SO much fun. Not much else to say about the zoo so enjoy the photos:

We had a picnic lunch in Nana and Papa’s RV. It was perfect for lunch! We had a blast! After our Zoo day was over we went to the campsite and ‘snuck’ in Nana and Papa (isn’t it good when you make friends with the staff upstairs!). We had a great big campfire and hung around for the rest of the day/night!
