Week 8 Day 4 - Monday, July 6th - Rough night

Since we had such a late night last night Arnold was running a bit late in the morning. It was kind of funny since he had his new phone and the alarm didn’t go off as well. Big help there!

Once Arnold got on the road the boys and I did some reading and hung out inside that day. It was a bit yucky weather but doable. We read our books from the library and I read my books from the library as well. We also watched a few movies.
The boys went outside and played for a bit and then came in and got really excited about something. It took me a few moments to realize what they wanted. Kyler found a bug on the car and they wanted a photo of it. Here’s the one and only photo we took that day:

Cute hey?

After lunch and nap time we packed up and went out to soccer. We were early so we stopped at the library first to drop off the movies and books. I was late on them since there was no soccer on Canada day and I needed to get them back soon. I dropped what I thought was all of them but it turns out Kyler and Quinton had been ‘reading’ in the car and he didn’t put them all back in the same ‘general’ area. Oh well. Now we have a bit more of a late fine on those books.

Just a few moments after leaving the library I heard Q whimper in the back seat and I realized what was happening he was throwing up. All the way to McDonalds. I felt so bad for him since I couldn’t do anything about it. I do have some incredible friends though. Lori hadn’t left yet so since her oldest son and Q wear just about the same size she grabbed some clothes for him to change into at soccer. Tim met us at McDonalds and brought Kyler inside and got him a happy meal and got him all set up to eat something for supper while I used his container of wipes and cleaned up Quinton and the seat. It worked really well. I am truly one lucky woman!

We had a rough night at soccer as well. Everyone got hurt, and it was only a practice! We had to end practice early since most of the kids were crying or in pain or something. I know it’s not something to laugh at but it totally made my day! I couldn’t believe I forgot my camera for all the injuries there were.

We stopped at Reid’s Dairy and got a slushy for Q and I and Kyler tried out some ice cream and Arnold had his milkshake and picked up some milk we needed to have. When we got back to the campground we stopped at the top of the hill and used the washrooms and washed everyone up and then headed down to the campsite and had some snuggle time and then off to bed.

Week 8 Day 3 - Sunday, July 5th - Church and Computers!

Sunday July 5th
We got up this morning and had a nice relaxed breakfast. Arnold and I talked a lot about the house we saw the night before and decided it was the one we wanted. We did have a few more places lined up and checked out more places online to see what we could find.

We headed out to church kind of early since Arnold had to do sound at church. I went downstairs and sat with the boys in the nursery and read a book. During church Arnold did sound upstairs and I sat downstairs with some friends of ours for church.

After church we went to Wal-Mart and got some oven roasted chicken and wraps and a few other things and brought them with us to Kristina’s house.

When Arnold got the computer from the shop on Friday he also had them give him the old hard drive so he could try and get the photos off of it, heck everything off of it. I had backed up on the 15th of June but I normally do it on the 1st and the 15th and since it was a few days before the 15th it didn’t work so well. (Note to self maybe look into getting something that will automatically back it up)

So we went to Kristina’s house and Arnold and Tim tried to use the new toy Tim has to get the information off the hard drive. Kristina and I got lunch ready for the kids and adults. We fed the kids while the boys played with the hard drive.

We hung out there and did another load of laundry (the stuff from the line that was wet) and eventually called it quits with my old hard drive. I lost all my photos from those days. That is so hard to totally understand. I’m very sad about it but I guess it’s my own fault. I have to remember that I need to update more I guess.

We brought the boys home late and they had a bit of a nap in the car while Arnold and I did some organizing of our stuff. We needed to get things a bit more moved around so we could fit more in the trailer, that and deal with the rest of the waterproofing.

We took a bit of a break and watched the van while the boys were sleeping and checked out some new house listing and talked a lot more about the house we saw. After we left Kristina’s house we did drive by it and want to check it out, or at least peak in the windows but when we got there someone else was looking at it with him. Decided that this was the house we wanted. Arnold called the agent and asked what happen next to make sure we could rent it. He told Arnold what he needed and we went to work getting everything (a credit rating and a letter of employment from Arnold’s work).

We had an early supper and then Arnold went off to the church again. He was doing the sound for the Wall service. I stayed out watching the boys and reading a book I got from the library (Karen Kingsbury is a GREAT Christian author, I recommend her to anyone). While I was reading I let Kyler go around the circle with a ‘friend’ (aka another child camper from another site). They did ok a few times then I realized it was taking a bit longer to come back to me. I was looking around and I couldn’t seem him. I called and called and called and no answer. I could see his ‘friend’s’ site from ours and I looked to see if her parents were worried but they didn’t seem to care. I started to freak out a bit more. Q and I went running through the park to find him and just as we past the dumpsters by the turn to our road he came down. I sent him right back to the trailer to sit there and wait until I got back. It turns out that he was following his friend to the bathrooms to go pee. We had to have a LONG talk about what is ok to do without telling mommy and what is not ok to do. This was on the NOT ok to do list. I eventually let him go back and play (after a 10 minute time out) and he listened this time. The little girl had to go back home and have supper so Kyler and Quinton started to have races up and down our road.

After their last race Kyler went across the road and got some left over wood from another campsite. He wanted to do our normal pick up but Daddy wasn’t there to do it with him. Isn’t he cute?

After we cleaned up all our toys and such we went inside and watched a new movie we got from the church Library (we have yet to ‘rent’ a movie and pay for it this summer). We had some snacks on the bed and chilled out.

I stayed up until Arnold got home from doing sound (close to 11pm) reading my book. I finished a book and a half on Sunday. They are really so good!

Week 8 Day 2 - Saturday, July 4th - houses, fairs and more

We got to sleep in! The boys had gone to bed so late that we got to sleep in until around 8am or so.

When we got up we checked out some houses and found about 8 of them. We e’mailed and called a bunch of them and had 1 call back right away. The guy basically asked when we could get there and we said… oh a half hour or so. So off we went. We really quickly got the kids dressed and headed out into the van. Luckily we had packed a few things up the day before so we did ok.

We went and looked at the upper level of a house. The areas we were looking at were right by the Don Mills subway station because the time for Arnold to travel would be really fast. We figured we would rather that then just hoping we could handle the longer rides and commutes in the winter time. This house was about a .5km bike ride to the subway station.

The house was the upstairs unit of a 3 unit house. The main floor was BEAUTIFUL! You walked into the house and went up a few steps; there was the living room and dining room. Then the new kitchen with a dishwasher! If you went to the left there was a little hallway with 2 closets and then you got to the end of the hall. If you went to the left there was the bathroom (on your left) with a full bath and on the right was bedroom 1 (future baby room) and bedroom 2 (boys room, walk in closet!!!!). If you went to the right there was the master bedroom. I was surprised to see another FULL bath in that room and then the room! Oh my gosh it was so pretty! There is hardwood floor in the whole house and it continued into this room. There was a bit of a ‘lip’ step up to the sliding doors to the backyard but the best part… a fireplace in the corner! Wow it was so cool!

Outside the house has a mini deck that wrapped around the back part and had a bigger landing just outside the sliding doors. It was so cool. You went down the steps and it was concrete around the garage and a concrete pad to put another car (HELLO, trailer parking!!!!!!!) and a big double fence door at the front. There is a tree in the back yard that hasn’t’ been taken care of but is still nice and a ‘garden’ area that took up a big chunk of the back yard but there is NO WAY we could keep it. We asked about removing it and they said sure.
We were in love! It was perfect!

After that we went out for some lunch and then headed down to the Taste of Lawrence.

When we were done there (oh and the boys first ‘rollercoaster ride’!) we headed home. We stopped and got gas and I went to the little booth for Whitamore’s Berry Farm. I got some strawberries and peas!

They were soo good! We went home in time to say goodbye to the neighbours. Oh and we heard a ‘good story’. They were out enjoying the fire and I guess the girls group that was beside them was REALLY loud and someone called them. Security came and told them if they get called on again they will be kicked out. Well I guess someone called and Security came down and told them the police would be here soon to kick them out. Well some of the girls weren’t really ‘drinking age’ so they packed up as fast as possible and headed out. They left this at their site:

The boys woke up from their nap and we went out and got some groceries for supper. We picked up some ice cream from Reids dairy. I think it was K’s first ice cream cone. It was good!

We realized we forgot some more things and while I did some research on the price of some shorts (since I had no more pairs left due to damaging them) the boys played with their boats and Arnold read.

We went back out and got some shorts for me (after I tried a few stores) and got Q some pull ups. We spent so much time there because of the price issues. We were waiting for a price check, when it came it was a different price than what was on the nearest tag, and they were just having problem after problem after problem and Arnold and I decided to fight it. So we did. We waited and talked to the CSM and they gave it to us for the price listed. We were going to get back about 8.00 but when she punched it in she punched it in as 8.00 instead of 15.00. That made my day!

When we got home and had supper the boys went on a little nature walk.

I put up Kyler flag we got at Wal-Mart. They love it!

Arnold worked on the computer for a bit more and I got the kids into bed. Eventually my computer will be back to ‘normal’
