Week 2 Day 4 - Monday, May 25th - Park Play!

Nap times are never going to be what they used to be. I knew getting Kyler to sleep would be a challenge but I figured it would be ok. I guess I was wrong. I put them down around 1:30 or so and then he was still up at 3:30. I finally bribed him into my bed with Cheetos and some snuggle time with mommy. I kid you not once they were done and I told him to close his eyes for 10 seconds he was out!

We all napped until about 4:45 or so then when the boys started to get going we got changed into some warm clothes (wow it got cold fast today) and went up the stairs to go to the washroom and to play at the park. Who would have guessed a walk to the washroom would have turned into time at the park. And me without my camera! Not fair!

We came back after about 20 minutes there and started to get supper ready for Daddy. This was about 6pm or so. I wasn’t expecting him back until 6:30 but wouldn’t you know it he arrived a half hour early! Wow he did great! I’m so proud of him!

The boys and I made sour cream and onion CP chicken and some rice and broccoli. Here’s our yummy supper!

And the biker man:

And I swear with this family once you start taking photos everyone must say cheese:

After we had our meal and started to clean up the boys put away some toys and got ready for another bike ride to the washrooms and to play at the playground:

Ok so we have a rule. You MUST wear a helmet when biking. If it’s an emergency (like the boys have to pee right away) sometimes we will let the helmet thing slide. BUT generally it is a rule, you must where your helmet. The boys are learning to put theirs away and to put them on. Here is Q learning by himself.

Photobucket
Step 1 – get helmet and figure out front from back

Photobucket
Step 2 – put helmet on

Photobucket
Step 3 – make sure it is secure and find clicking spot

Photobucket
Step 4 – if it doesn’t feel right try to push on head further before clicking it on

Photobucket
Step 5 – jiggle head side to side and see if it helps

Photobucket
Step 6 – take a break (putting a helmet on is hard work!

Photobucket
Step 7 – try to click again

Photobucket
Step 8 – take it off and ask Mommy for some help.

During our afternoon play we did some ‘underdogs’. For those who don’t remember or have never done one that is when you push someone all the way above your head and run like there is no tomorrow in hopes that their feet don’t come smashing on your head. Well, I did one or 2 with the boys this afternoon. Just for fun. I informed them that their Daddy was the *best* at doing this. He didn’t seem too impressed when he found this out but he did help out just the same.

When Daddy got home from work and we started to go up to the park Kyler asked if Daddy could do some under puppies! Arnold looked so confused. It took us a bit to realize what he was talking about. Once we did we decided that Kyler could get underdogs and Quinton could get underpuppies.

Here are some swing photos. It is SO hard to get them in focus. Any photo help would be great!

Daddy got it that both boys could give him high fives while in the air:

I don’t remember if I said anything before but the last few days while it has been warm Kyler has been trying to get their water spray-er-thingie to work. I’m not sure why it hasn’t. So today while we were upstairs paying for our tent they told us they don’t put it on until it’s a bit warmer out. Here’s an ode (in photos) to the water spray-er-thingie:

The button. That needs to be pushed but doesn’t work

The water spray-er-thingie. That is there to spray water for little boys and girls

The ‘whole’ water park. This is it, the whole place for all the water

I managed to bounce down the stairs before the boys did and get a few photos of them coming down (BTW I just realized they all have their helmets on during the photos of the park. It’s not that we don’t trust them to not fall down and smack themselves or anything, it’s more that we are all too lazy to carry them and if it is already on their heads why encourage them to take it off?)

The men I love!

Our trusty sign to tell us where to go!

We got back and got ready for bed. For some reason Quinton thinks if he holds onto his bowl it will magically refill. So much so that we got him snuggled down to bed and he was still holding onto it!

Here is K finishing up his snack:

And it’s lights out for them! Tonight I did turn on the heater as it is a bit chilly here. Arnold has made another trip home to get some more food and a few other things (like chairs for him to sit on for breakfast). Hopefully he won’t be too long. I’m ready for bed myself!

Week 2 Day 4 - Monday, May 25th - More tents = More money

What a beautiful crisp day! Or at least our morning was. Do you remember camping when it’s so cold your nose is freezing, and that was the first thing you felt in the morning? That was this morning!

Arnold had a rough night. Around midnight or so Kyler started to cry, like really bad. We asked him what was wrong and he said he was thirsty, when we confirmed he was thirsty he said, no he was hungry. He wanted toast. Arnold said he could get him bread but not toast. Kyler said ok, so Arnold confirmed with him that it was ok and then went to get some bread. By the time he came in Kyler was knocked out! He didn’t wake up until this morning!

I woke up this morning to Quinton asking for Mommy. Turns out he started it when Arnold left to go and shower at 6am. The poor boy! Arnold had to get up for his first ride into work. He has been gone for an hour already. I’m a little nervous for him but I’m sure he will be fine. **ETA - he made it to work in 1 hour and 6 minutes (give or take a bit since it only counts when his wheels are moving) and he did 26.846 trailer to door of work and is feeling good! Average speed is 24.3 Kms/hour**

I was able to run to the washroom this morning before Arnold left so that gave me a bit of time alone. I really enjoyed it! I was thinking about how much I envy boys. As I was walking to the washroom this one kid comes out of the bushes and as I walked by I realized he was peeing on one of the big rocks in the woods. SO not fair that he can do that and not have to walk up those stairs!

When I got back to the tent Q was in bed with Arnold snuggling and Kyler was just starting to wake up. I got breakfast ready for the boy’s right after Arnold left. As they were munching on their Cheerios I made supper for tonight. Once again, I want to take some time to thank those people who gave me Crock Pot Recipes. We are having sour cream chicken with broccoli and rice tonight for supper.

Kyler is watching his movie, Jungle book, and Quinton is hanging out with me reading his books. We don’t have many plans today except for hanging out. Tomorrow and Wednesday, though we have some plans. I hope to get some running around done, and maybe even some zoo time! It will all depend on what the boys want to do!

Ahh nap time! I love this part of the day!

Let’s see after the movie the boys and I checked the weather and it was good enough to go outside to play! So while they played (in the van no less) I aired out their sheets.

Photobucket

I swear the place smelled like pee when I came in this morning so I wanted to make sure it wasn’t the boys’ sheets. I got to put them on our new laundry line! Arnold and I found our one that the Toronto Energy group gave out last summer or the summer before. You can put it out and bring it back in when you are done. It worked out perfectly!

Photobucket

Shortly after play time and me taking away our snack chips, the boys both came into the trailer to visit. Kyler asked for more to eat and this is how he showed up asking for it:

Photobucket

Quinton came in looking for his hat and as he had nothing else in his hands he gave me the option of calling his bowl his ‘hat’:

Photobucket

The boys spent the rest of the morning running around and playing outside. I managed to get the beds cleaned off, re-made and a few more things done, which is good because we have a babysitter coming tomorrow and I want to make sure that he has a clean area to hang out if it’s raining!

Right after lunch, as I put the boys to bed, someone from the Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation came by and told me I had to pay for the extra tent. He seemed surprised that we were here for the season ‘already’. I guess ‘normal’ people come by the end of the month or mid to end of June but not as early as we did.

Anyway here is my souvenir from going to the front office to pay for the extra tent!

Photobucket

I’m going to have a chat with the non napping boys and see if we can change that. Have a wonderful afternoon!

Week 2 Day 3 - Sunday, May 24th - Water Play!

I hope you all had a wonderful day!

Ours was nice and relaxing. Actually, that’s why I didn’t get to post on here at nap time. Arnold and I were busy getting some things done. Here’s how our day went:

We woke up around 1am to Quinton. He fell out of bed. The poor guy! He came and snuggled with us for a bit then Arnold brought him back to bed.

When we finally woke up for good it was around 7:30 or so. We got up and went for our morning walk to the washrooms and then came back to make breakfast. We had a whole bunch of food! We had bacon, eggs, and pancakes.

Photobucket

Photobucket

While Arnold was making breakfast Quinton went for an adventure! He went climbing on the van. Kyler finally warmed up to being awake.

Photobucket

We sat down at the table for an incredible breakfast! I loved it! Both boys were ready to pray and eat when I pulled out the camera.

As soon as breakfast was over we booked it over to the house. Everyone jumped in the shower and we started a new load of laundry. We got a few more things cleaned up it was nice. After the campfire last night Arnold and I decided that Saturday nights should be bath nights instead of campfire night. That way we can all be clean for church on Sunday. Here are my clean boys!

On the way home from church we stopped and got some subs from Mr. Sub.

Photobucket

We wanted to wait to eat until we got to the campsite so the boys got some chips instead!

Photobucket

Quinton fell asleep on the way home from the house from getting a few things. Arnold tucked him right into bed for nap time but Kyler stayed awake and ate his lunch. Then he went to ‘bed’ but he never fell asleep. Here’s what I found while peeking in the window:

Photobucket

Arnold took a few minutes to clean off the windows of our van. Last night it rained for about 2 hours or so and there was more issues with the pollen coming off the trees and such so he wanted to get it off, that and work on his farmers tan

Photobucket

Arnold and I spent a lot of the afternoon working on the RT. We wanted to reorganize it a bit more. Here’s mid process:

And the end looking:

After nap time we had some adventures in a pool and in the sprinkler. The one at the top of the stairs was broken so we used our own. Even Daddy got involved. IT was great fun. Arnold commented at one point that he was surprised how much fun the kids can have with about 2 inches of water in the bottom of the pool and a sprinkler!

Oh wait… I guess I should explain the first photo. This is Quinton right after a nap. I told him we could go in the pool if we were all dressed for it and ready to go so we got him down to a diaper and I told him he had to go pee (since everyone knows… getting wet for kids = peeing in the water ). He freaked! Enjoy the photos!

While we were playing the neighbours dogs came to visit. The boys were so excited!

Kyler is getting so good on his bike! Here he is flying by us on a walk around the park:

Photobucket

Arnold and Kyler went for a bike ride up to go potty while I got Quinton changed for the night time. Since we were re-doing the RT all the bikes were out. Q loves checking out his Daddy’s bike. I started to get things ready for dinner and sure enough he hurts himself. Here’s a picture of what I found when I rounded the corner:
Photobucket

After supper the kids just played around. We didn’t do much else all day. Here are a few random photos of the kids playing around:

Right now the boys are enjoying a movie with Daddy in the trailer. I just finished folding all the clothes in the trailer and helping Daddy get ready for his ride tomorrow. I think he is finally ready to go! I’m happy for that. The best part is the meals. I’m not sure if you know but I made up about 2 weeks worth of meals. I brought them into work one day and put them in the freezer with Arnold’s name on them. Sarah, the receptionist, helped me find a spot for them and he is good to go for 2 weeks of food! I’m so happy about that. 2 weeks later when he is done, or almost done, my girlfriend said I can go to her house and cook some meals. I’m going to pick up some oven meals and a CP meal or two and do that and make him some more food. I’m hoping that will keep him going for the summer. Every 2 weeks I’ll go in and see him or the boys and I will take Daddy out for lunch one day when we come by to visit!

Well we are off to bed soon. Please say a prayer for Arnold tomorrow with his 24.9km ride to work!

And one last photo of the boys watching Toy Story.
