Week 8 Day 3 - Sunday, July 5th - Church and Computers!

Sunday July 5th
We got up this morning and had a nice relaxed breakfast. Arnold and I talked a lot about the house we saw the night before and decided it was the one we wanted. We did have a few more places lined up and checked out more places online to see what we could find.

We headed out to church kind of early since Arnold had to do sound at church. I went downstairs and sat with the boys in the nursery and read a book. During church Arnold did sound upstairs and I sat downstairs with some friends of ours for church.

After church we went to Wal-Mart and got some oven roasted chicken and wraps and a few other things and brought them with us to Kristina’s house.

When Arnold got the computer from the shop on Friday he also had them give him the old hard drive so he could try and get the photos off of it, heck everything off of it. I had backed up on the 15th of June but I normally do it on the 1st and the 15th and since it was a few days before the 15th it didn’t work so well. (Note to self maybe look into getting something that will automatically back it up)

So we went to Kristina’s house and Arnold and Tim tried to use the new toy Tim has to get the information off the hard drive. Kristina and I got lunch ready for the kids and adults. We fed the kids while the boys played with the hard drive.

We hung out there and did another load of laundry (the stuff from the line that was wet) and eventually called it quits with my old hard drive. I lost all my photos from those days. That is so hard to totally understand. I’m very sad about it but I guess it’s my own fault. I have to remember that I need to update more I guess.

We brought the boys home late and they had a bit of a nap in the car while Arnold and I did some organizing of our stuff. We needed to get things a bit more moved around so we could fit more in the trailer, that and deal with the rest of the waterproofing.

We took a bit of a break and watched the van while the boys were sleeping and checked out some new house listing and talked a lot more about the house we saw. After we left Kristina’s house we did drive by it and want to check it out, or at least peak in the windows but when we got there someone else was looking at it with him. Decided that this was the house we wanted. Arnold called the agent and asked what happen next to make sure we could rent it. He told Arnold what he needed and we went to work getting everything (a credit rating and a letter of employment from Arnold’s work).

We had an early supper and then Arnold went off to the church again. He was doing the sound for the Wall service. I stayed out watching the boys and reading a book I got from the library (Karen Kingsbury is a GREAT Christian author, I recommend her to anyone). While I was reading I let Kyler go around the circle with a ‘friend’ (aka another child camper from another site). They did ok a few times then I realized it was taking a bit longer to come back to me. I was looking around and I couldn’t seem him. I called and called and called and no answer. I could see his ‘friend’s’ site from ours and I looked to see if her parents were worried but they didn’t seem to care. I started to freak out a bit more. Q and I went running through the park to find him and just as we past the dumpsters by the turn to our road he came down. I sent him right back to the trailer to sit there and wait until I got back. It turns out that he was following his friend to the bathrooms to go pee. We had to have a LONG talk about what is ok to do without telling mommy and what is not ok to do. This was on the NOT ok to do list. I eventually let him go back and play (after a 10 minute time out) and he listened this time. The little girl had to go back home and have supper so Kyler and Quinton started to have races up and down our road.






















After their last race Kyler went across the road and got some left over wood from another campsite. He wanted to do our normal pick up but Daddy wasn’t there to do it with him. Isn’t he cute?








After we cleaned up all our toys and such we went inside and watched a new movie we got from the church Library (we have yet to ‘rent’ a movie and pay for it this summer). We had some snacks on the bed and chilled out.







I stayed up until Arnold got home from doing sound (close to 11pm) reading my book. I finished a book and a half on Sunday. They are really so good!

Week 7 Day 3 - Sunday, June 28th - Fire!!

We got to sleep in a bit since Sunday school has ended for the summer. It didn’t really feel like it since we had to go in and get Arnold’s Wheel.

Q woke up looking, and feeling, much better. K and Q snuggled with me on our bed for a bit while Arnold made us pancakes! It was so good, or well, “hot cakes” and K calls them now. As soon as we were done I got the boys dressed, one by one, to go to church and we headed out. But not before at least 1 of them got dirty. Wouldn’t you guess it hey?

We headed out to downtown and got Arnold’s Wheel from the store and then went to church. We got the kids dropped off in the nursery and up to church for the 1st song! It worked out rather well. We had a good service and then we headed out. I tried to get into the library but they weren’t open so we didn’t get new books. I did get to visit with a few people. Tonight was the last Sing and Share of the year and we went last year and it was fun. The problem was that we didn’t want to go and fill up their house since it said it would be thunder storms. So instead of having 20 to 30 youth and 2 kids running around we pulled ourselves out of the mix. It worked out ok in general I guess.

After church we went to Pickering and found a BP’s to have supper at. It was good. They took off my Thai Chicken Pizza and I really wanted it so the girl said the kitchen could make it. They did but they used a different sauce. Not at all what I was hoping for but they were really sweet and comp’ed our meal. So for the 4 of us to eat it cost 27.00. Totally doable with our budget!

We went home and the boys watched a movie while I cleaned up the trailer and Arnold did laundry and cleaned the green tent.

When he got back we went on a ‘wood-picking’ run around the campground. We had one load left in the dryer so we packed the kids up in the car and a sheet of plastic in the back and we went and picked up any leftover wood from other campsites. We/Arnold has been doing this every week since we got here and seriously it turns out to be A LOT of wood.




































































































When we got home we made supper (burgers) and had that and then Arnold made us a HUGE fire from all the wood we have collected in the past 2 weeks. We burned a lot of things we didn’t need/want anymore. Boxes of cooking chocolate, freezer burned veggies, moldy bread, buns, left over burgers, and a bit of chips of chips. It worked out rather well for cleaning the fridge.

The boys went for 1 more bike ride up to the washrooms/parks and Kyler had an accident. He was biking up a STEAP hill and took his feet off the pedals to push up (we are guessing) and he started to go backwards (there are no hand breaks on his bike) and he went too fast down the hill and smashed the side of his face into the yellow polls. The poor dude! He seemed fine when they got to the park and was promised some underdogs and some cake when he got back to the campsite!

I finished cleaning up the trailer while they were gone so we had room for our rainy week.

The boys got back and we watched the fire a bit more. Arnold raised the swing up a bit since it was getting too low for them and then it was off to bed. We had a fun night!

Week 6 Day 3 - Sunday, June 21st - Father's Day!

This morning when we got up we had some of our “fun Pac” Cereal. It’s 4 different kinds of cereal times 2 in little boxes. We LOVE it. The boys get to pick their own (which is Corn pop’s or Fruit Loops! After we had our breakfast we had to hurry to get to Church on time.

Arnold was a bit sore today and was having a bit of a rough time with everything so we took it rather slow compared to normal and he didn’t do much in church. We got there on time and headed to our spots. It was the last Sunday School for the summer. And I was *really* happy to hear that. Not because I don’t like it but because then we don’t have to rush so much. Our Sunday School Class had a fun time! We did coffee from Tim’s and some donuts! I love them in the morning! We had a great time visiting and then off went our teacher (he was doing a Solo at church and needed to practice).

The Father’s Day Service was really good. It was the music service of the year. So the Choir sings like 6 songs and then special groups come up and do special songs! It’s a lot of fun!

After the Service a lot of people came up to Arnold asking about his accident and making sure he was ok. It’s hard to explain it a bunch of time so he went downstairs to get the kids and get away from everyone.

Once we were done we headed out. Our plan was to go to Wal-Mart at Scarborough Town Centre and check a few things there, but we did a bit of a change in plans. Auntie Kristina called during church and asked if we wanted to go with her to White Feather Farms and get some goodies! So we did things a bit different from plans:
- Stopped at the LCBO and got some special drinks for Father’s Day
- Stopped at WalMart and got new shoes for Q, some things for supper, and some clear plastic containers for under the bed for storage
- Went on our way to White Feather Farms following Kristina and Tim!

We drove quite a way and through town which was having a pariade so that added to the fun! But we got there. It’s really cute. It kind of reminds me of Parks Blueberry. There is a little country shop with lots of different things in there and then outside is a playground with a few picnic tables and some old tractors to play on. It was fun. The mom’s went in and played in the store (ie looked around and bought a few things) and the Dad’s played outside with the kiddos.

Kristina and I got some things for a ‘snacky’ lunch and we went out to meet up with the kids. It was great timing since there was a converted school bus into a train there. Here’s the photos we have:









































































Once we were done there we headed back to the campsite. Auntie Kristina, Uncle Tim, and E came over for some playtime and supper. It was a lot of fun. The kids ended up in the sprinkler while we got some help moving some things around in the yard and hanging out!





























































I managed to snag those off of Auntie Kristina’s camera before they left. Cute kids aren’t they?

We had steak, potatoes and green beans for supper. It was so good! Around 7pm or so it started to look like rain; and then sure enough it started to rain. We got some help to clean up then E and her parents went home. The boys and I finished cleaning up and then the rain stopped! It was kind of funny since we were joking just before that they ‘bring’ rain with them!

Since it was the longest day of the year we had the kids stay up as long as they could! Kyler picked me some flowers while he was out and we just hung out. It was nice.



We finally called lights out around 10:30pm with the boys. We did leave the windows open since it was still 20C at bedtime. What a beautiful day!
