Week 2 Day 6 - Wednesday, May 27th - School time!

We had such a great evening!

Quinton woke up early. It’s so cute when he gets up compared to his brother. There are no questions actually asked except maybe Mommy? But that is it. Here’s what I see when he gets up from his nap(excuse the garbage)

Kyler was still sleeping when Trevor, our babysitter, got here at 4:15pm. I had to convince K to get up so we could go to school Trevor got him dressed and ready to go while I changed Q’s dirty bum. We gave him the new details of the house/trailer and off we went to SCHOOL!
Photobucket

Before we left Q had to have his photo taken:

For Kyler’s big night we went out for supper at Boston Pizza. Kyler and I got there at 4:45pm (after making a quick stop at home to look for some papers) and we got a booth for us to sit in. Kyler and I ordered as soon as we got there and waited for Daddy. Kyler ordered Chicken Fingers and Fries (no surprise there) and chocolate milk.

Before it got there we played with some of the toys they had in the kids kit. It was a pop out kitchen, with different toppings for pizzas and stuff. Kyler and I had a lot of fun playing with it!

When Daddy got there he joined in:

Kyler chose ‘dirt and worms’ for dessert. He eats the gummy worms and I eat the pudding.

Photobucket

After supper we went to his school because Kyler was SO excited. He really wanted to go (we were almost a half hour early). Daddy got a photo of him with the School sign on it.

Photobucket

We asked A LOT of questions and got to do some different things. It was great! I really enjoyed it. The teacher, Mrs. A., remembered a lot of what we had talked about with her before. I’m so grateful to have a school like that. We did talk to the principal about us nothing having a permanent place to live near the school yet. He told us he needs the numbers but would be happy to let us in when Sept comes around. While K was playing around he met his ‘bestest friend Jewels’. She lives in a different district as well but her mom likes this school better so they are going here. I’m looking forward to seeing all the new kids in September.

When you left the JK room you got a package with lots of things in it. Here is K sitting in the car with his:

Photobucket

It includes:
*All the information we picked up that night and did (there was a passport for each station, some arts and crafts stuff, information from the health nurse and a few other things)
*more information about the sessions we did that night and what they mean to the kids
*Play-doh
*3 books (Nose to Toes, Canada in Colours, and Canada 1 2 3)
*a “Starting School” pamphlet with information about what they need to know before school
*a library card pack – info on how to get one for kids
*2 packs of construction paper
*10 jumbo crayons
*a big pencil
*a glue stick
*kids scissors
*magnetic letters and number (letters are upper and lower case)
*a “My letter Pack” from the school. Each page is a letter from the alphabet and numbers 1 to 10 as well as some bigger sheets to put them on a magnetic board so they can match them

It is so cool! Kyler is even more excited about school now!

We got home and went to bed after Kyler got to hang out with Trevor for a bit. Arnold put a new latch and lock on the fridge for the Raccoons and then drove Trevor home.

I’m glad he put the lock on before he left cause our first ‘visitors’ showed up right after he left. Then our next group came and dumped the pots and pans at 4am. I HATE that guy. He is huge. And loud. And annoying!

All in all it turned out to be an ok day.

Internet issues

Dang! I swear my internet is like hair... changes with the weather. Like the last 2 days while we have had crappy rainy weather I haven't had much luck with the internet. But today, where I can actually see the sun it's great! 2 to 3 bars most of the time. So this is why I'm a little late in updating on a few things. I promise soon I'll have the updates for the last few days up! With photos!

Rain Rain Go away!

Ok I offically hate rain! Today was our first 'true' rain day and it seemed to go ok (aside from the water starting last night and it leaking on our bed and whatknot).

We just got back from Kylers JK thing (more about that in the morning, I'm so tired!) and I figured it was ok until I started loking at the trailer. There are random water marks all over and the seams are now soaking.

So....

NTS - All seams (inside and out) need to be waterproofed
-All tags that are used to roll the canvas windows up and down with need to be WP inside and out
-all corners need to have the square peices done that grandma made (finish WP'ing those first) then remember to move things away on the boys side
-dry out the curtins on the boys side

ahhhh I hate this.

To add to the fun the raccoons are in the RT again. At least we got the lock on the fridge just before Arnold left to bring the babysitter back.

Week 2 Day 6 - Wednesday, May 27th - Blessed Nap time!

Ahh it is finally that glorious time of day. The time that ever stay at home parent longs for, heck I’m sure the childcare workers around the world love this time of day as well. As I’m sure most of you have guessed it is not lunch time but another good one. It is now nap time! Nap time! Say it with me NAP TIME! Feel free to jump up and down! Shout it from the roof tops (quietly if your little ones are sleeping) NAP TIME!!! For those of you who are reading this and don’t get nap time anymore I feel so sorry for you. It is a time of day I have grown to love. Especially today when it has been raining out. I have managed to get the boys outside for about 10 minutes then it started to pour and we had to come in but wow, those 10 minutes of putting away laundry in such a small trailer, alone, were the most incredible moments of my day, thus far!

And for those of you who did indeed guess, today is Kyler’s orientation for Kindergarten! We are all so excited. Kyler is counting down the minutes. You know, I always told myself I would never be one of ‘those moms’ who used things to bribe their children but you know what, if it works it works! I am currently bribing Kyler that if he does not sleep then he will not be allowed to go to Kindergarten today. Ahh I love that it is working! And quite well at that. I think he is already ‘fake sleeping’ as I type this!

Our morning started out with the juice picture. It gave us lots of energy for the day. The boys played on their bed with a ball we managed to bring in last night.

Photobucket

Then they tried on everyone’s shoes!

Photobucket
Photobucket

And that’s when the rain stopped, for about 10 minutes. Enough time to get the boys out of the trailer for just a few short minutes. They ran around, splashed in some puddles and chased some birds again. Those poor poor birds.

The boys came back in and we got them set up for some reading books I got from Auntie Kristina last night. Good ‘oldies’ books. They were great! When the boys were done I put some more things away and got them set up with some colouring books and crayons as well as a few other things and that lasted for just a bit of time. Then it was all hell broke lose! I love my boys but today was a test for sure.

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket

While they were playing around/colouring I tried to do some more cleaning this is what I was up against. I need to work on my stuff. I think it will be easier once the house is ‘in order’

Photobucket

Then the boys got into the toiletries bags. Q figured he needed some deodorant.

I stepped out to have get some lunch. With the Raccoons eating the cheese, hotdogs and a few other things our supplies were a bit limited. That and with the fridge open so long it chilled the food a bit too much! Anyway I got lunch and the boys sat down and had some:

And now is that blessed time… nap time!

Enjoy your afternoon!

Week 2 Day 6 - Wednesday, May 27th - Morning Report!

This morning! Wow… what a morning! And NOT in a good way. Aside from finding out the leaks in the tent when I got home last night I was a little upset to find that nothing Arnold said would be done or worked on was done. So I was upset, maybe that’s why I slept so lightly!

3am was our first wake up call. There was a HUGE thud in the tent and Arnold went in to see what the deal was. I was a little worried but I’m glad he went out. They went right for the fridge and managed to get it open. I’m thinking it had a bit more to do with how things fell but they got it open and got into the cheese, hotdogs and something else. (Whatever it is it’s gone now but we don’t remember what it was) Yeah, that was the first. Then Arnold put a bungee cord on the door of the fridge and we waited to see how else it would go. Not much for a bit then another big bag. Arnold went to check it out again and they didn’t’ see to get into anything except knock some pop off the microwave. Ahh well. At least that was checked. Then the ‘fun’ started. There were some big fights outside. I found out this morning on my walk to the washroom that there are a LOT of Raccoons in this area and because it’s not real ‘camping season’ yet that the Coons are fighting over who gets what food that they can find (the little of it). Anyway there was a big fight and a lot of ‘calling’ then a bit later there was some more fights and calling and at one point I’m *sure* they hit the trailer (where we were sleeping). I was not impressed and a bit more scared than anything. Arnold kept telling me he can’t go outside and check on them all the time because it won’t help they will just come back a lot. So we waited it out. And I think the last time I heard them was around 4:45am. I’m so tired today!

Arnold got up at his normal time and took some photos of the damage they left behind. At least I can say we are getting some latches tonight for the fridge with locks. This sucks but if it will keep them out the better!

I got up late (ie 10 minutes later than normal) and hoofed it up to the washrooms while Arnold got the boys breakfast ready and their movie set up. I talked to one of the Toronto Parks people about the Raccoons and she gave me the information above. She also said that lots of people down from us (there are a few tents) are having MAJOR issues as well. Maybe that’s why we have become the 3am feeding place and not the 10pm place! I also asked if they might be able to put a door latch or something a bit lower on the boys door as our boys can’t reach it. I was telling her we had some almost accidents there so I wanted to see if she could do anything. She said she had never even thought about the little kids and would ask and see what they could do.

On my way back it started to drizzle a bit. And now.. It’s pouring! I hope Arnold got a good start before all this rain started for him. It says it should be like this all day! I’m totally not looking forward to that at all.

This morning I have 1 photo to tie you over until I get time, either at nap time or when we get home tonight.

This is the new juice boxes for the boys: *Maybe it explains their energy they have right now!*

Photobucket

I just checked the boys’ side for water leaking and it looks like the spray worked really well over there. Hopefully it will hold up for the next few days of rain! Our side…. On the other hand it still very wet. I’m going to see what I can do to keep it dry for now.

Week 2 Day 5 - Tuesday, May 26th - Daddy's Night

Sorry no update last night but I was gone until late.
I can tell you what I do remember from the afternoon.
The boys woke up around 3pm or so and wanted to go outside and play. It was getting ‘cool’ but not cold yet. We got everyone dressed and went for our bike ride up to the stairs to go potty. Everyone managed to find a stall that worked for them and go ‘pee’. Q just went between K and I and peeked under the stalls to see if he could see us.

Photobucket

When we came back Kyler wanted to bike longer but Quinton and I were struggling with getting control of the bike so I let K do his first ‘solo’ bike ride. He biked the ‘long’ way around to the trailer. I got a few photos but you can’t really see him so here is one when he came back to the trailer:

Photobucket

Kyler and Quinton went to running around the yard while I started to get supper stuff ready. They brought the skateboard and scooter over to their favourite spot. By this little tree in our campsite. They LOVE playing around it. I think it might be our ‘measuring stick’ to see how tall these little boys get this summer.

Photobucket

About 10 second after I took this photo I couldn’t find the boys. I was looking all over then I realized… they were in the trailer. I called for them and Kyler said they were ‘hanging out’. I got closer and found they had gotten into some chips! Here’s Kyler trying to distract me.

Photobucket

With this:

Photobucket
“Chase it mommy!”

If you remember me saying I make a mess of every stove top I really do. Here’s a photo of it from last nights meal mess:

Photobucket

While I was taking photos the boys started to come out of the trailer… without shoes on (and wearing their socks). Q was showing me his ‘shoes’. I guess we will have to work on the difference between shoes and socks!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I went into the trailer to get some stuff to get ready for my outing last night and I look out the window and Kyler is chasing the birds again (no surprise there) and he has something on a stick. I had him turn around and I realized he was trying to feed them a worm!

Photobucket

Anyway I left shortly after all this. Arnold had a long ride home due to the wind and I fed the boys while waiting for him. Arnold didn’t get home until around 6:45 or so. (We thought he would be home at 6) When I left it started to rain and all I can get from the boys last night is that they watched a movie with Daddy in the trailer and went to sleep without their lights working. Tough life hey?

I have to say when I got home I realized one of the ‘crappy’ things about camping. The rain. Arnold didn’t check anything to see if it was wet or anything so when I got into bed the whole edge of our bed was wet. I had water proofed the boys side but not ours yet. Obviously that’s something we are going to have to do soon. Aside from that it seemed to be a normal night…. Until……..

Week 2 Day 5 - Tuesday, May 26th - Zoo Day!

Afternoon everyone!

We just got back from a lovely morning at the zoo with Auntie Lori and Logan and Baby Keaton!

But back to our morning. It started with Arnold’s alarm going off and him dragging himself out of bed. We turned on the heater last night so the trailer was toasty warm and he didn’t want to leave! I managed to get in my morning bathroom run and as soon as I got back I let Arnold know he could go while I puttered around and got myself breakfast. I’m getting smart and bringing the cheerios into the trailer with me along with 2 bowls at night. This way we can have breakfast in the morning inside if it’s too cold.

We watched a bit of The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything, for an hour or so then we got dressed and booked it off to the zoo. Not before taking a photo of our ‘friends’ who we are hope are leaving soon. The meaning of ‘no noise after 11pm’ does not seem to compute with them! Hopefully they will be gone soon. It says on their tag they should be out of here today but I guess I can only hope for now!

Photobucket

We got to the Zoo a bit earlier than Auntie Lori because, well, Mommy forgot that we don’t live as far anymore! So we got there early and hung around for a bit. Here are the photos from the zoo. Nothing really exciting happen so I’ll just label them as we go along!

Every time we go to the Zoo we must visit our ‘eagle’ or our ‘segal’ as K called it today.
Photobucket

Here is K using his ‘nockers’ to check it out:
Photobucket

This is the one thing Kyler wants to do, well 1 of the 2 things. I won’t let him do it unless Daddy is with us:
Photobucket

Q found a ‘bird’ in the flowers, can you?:

Photobucket

I finally got told to STOP:

Photobucket

This is the other thing we won’t do without Daddy:

Photobucket

We met up with Auntie Lori at the front gates and while she too Lo to go to the potty we stayed with this cutie:

Photobucket

Here are the 3 ‘men’: (Q, K, Lo)
Photobucket

Q learned a new word today, BUNNIES!

Photobucket

Photobucket

While we were practicing the new word with Q, K went running up to the top of the play house!

Photobucket

Keke wasn’t too happy today. He has been teething again. He was only ok in the MT.

After lunch we were cleaning up and I turn around to see this:

And another:

While the Gorillas weren’t that interesting for K he did find this Skunk that was really interesting:

Last but not least of our fun was the Zoo ChoCho:

And Q’s favourite animal:

Now the boys are napping. I hope you all had a wonderful morning! Hopefully the rain will bypass us tomorrow!

Speaking of which… tomorrow is a BIG day for Kyler, Mommy and Daddy. Can anyone guess why????

Random Thoughts - May 26th

Good morning!

This morning while I was changing Q out of his pee'd on clothes and everything I thought about all the 'random' things I don't blog about. So here some are:

*A few days ago (being Sunday) we were all sitting at the table and eatting supper. I was done and sitting back and all the sudden I realized that there was a spider on the table. I told Arnold about it and asked him to do something. I was paralized in fear. I really hate spiders. I can handle the little ones, or Daddy-long-legs, but this one was about the size of a loonie or toonie (legs and body). He scared me. Anyway, I asked Arnold to get something and he was taking his time getting it and I started to move and sure enough the spider moved on me. I jumped up screaming and scared Q a bit. It was a bad thing all together. Arnold checked me to make sure the spider wasn't on me anymore and tried to comfort me. I don't think he realized how scared I was of spiders! Now we are dealing with the 'after effects' from me screaming and now Q gets upset when he sees bugs.

*I am almost sure that the Raccoon is leaving us alone. As you may have noticed he hasnt' been a big part of my posing lately. We think he has left us alone for 2.5 days now (the .5 is for the fact that yesterday Arnold didn't wipe everything off so now we don't know if the marks were there before or not). It's been kind of nice. We keep up with keeping everything cleaned and in containers which is helping alot. It is hard to have a 'lazy day' here because dishes must be done every night, cloths must be hung up every night, doors closed, containers sealed. It's just alot of work every day. We also think it might be because there are some serious 'stupid' campers here that leave their food out all night long and when Arnold gets up their food is all over. That and the trash cans/dumpsters haven't been emptied since we got here so they have lots of food to get. That and maybe having all the boys pee around the tent is helping!!!

*Our potty training with Q is on a bit of a stand still until it ets a bti warmer. We have been doing ok with it during the day and before each bum change but we are hoping to do a bit better once the weather is warmer.

*A Random Thought for Nana and Papa (more so Nana) they have little booklets at the front that have the trails on them. Maybe you should pick them up :) For those who want to know what I'm talking about Mom blogged about it here: http://adventuresingrandparenting.blogspot.com/2009/05/three-hour-tour.html

*My husband eats WAY too much Rasion Bran. He is already done his box! I swear that boy needs to cool it!

*Arnold and I have talked about doing this again, the living here all summer thing, but if we do we need to have a bathroom in here! Heck... I've even been dreaming of ways to add a toilet to this one. Storage place would suck but hey, it might be worth it!

*DH has been great for doing thing at night. Last night he left around 8:30, 9pm and went home and came back with: clean laundry, our toothbrushes we forgot (hense why we didn't go anywhere yesterday :P ), he baked some cookies and brought them with us, brought over 2 kitchen chairs so he could eat ok at the table, another pile of wood for our fires (our neighbour friends who came last weekend were nice enough to give us the rest of their bag), and a few more freezer items (a roast and ground beef). He is so great!
